How to get here

By car

The most direct driving route to Russell is approx three and a half hours to four hours drive north from Auckland, or one hour North from Whangarei. The route is via Whangarei via Kawakawa to Opua, then across the bay by vehicle ferry. The ferry is a continuous shuttle from Opua to Okiato, crossing every 15min throughout the day from 6.40am to 10pm. After leaving the car ferry, follow the road to Russell for approx 9km.

Once in Russell, continue through the village past the tennis courts (RHS) until you reach a cross roads, turn right into Wellington Street, the same road to Long Beach.

Triton Suites is 100 meters on left hand side at No 7 Wellington Street.

An alternate secondary road to Russell is via the Coastal route. Via Helena Bay, Oakura, Whangaruru, and Parakura Bay. Driving north from Whangarei, approx 20km north, turn right off S.H.1 at Whakapara on to the “Old Russell road”, just past B.P. Petrol Station. This route will take you approx two hours driving to Russell.

By Coach

Regular coach services from Auckland serve the Bay of Islands. Your arrival will be in Paihia. Catch one of the many passenger ferries to Russell. Normal timetables are approx every 30min during the day until 9p.m. Upon arrival in Russell, please call Triton Suites from the Information or Fullers office and we are happy to collect you and your luggage from the wharf.

By Air

The nearest airports are Whangarei and Keri Keri. Whangarei is one hour south of Russell, and Kerikeri is one hour north of Russell. Rental cars are available at both airports. There is a transfer coach service from the Kerikeri Airport to Paihia. From here you would then catch the passenger Ferry to Russell and ring Triton Suites from the Information or Fullers office and we are happy to collect you and your luggage from the wharf.
